Release Notes: Software Update for Flex Systems v2.440

• Read me first!

1. This software update is for Flex NX, Flex LT, NX25, and NX15.
2. Before updating to this software version (v2.440) please verify that your Flex NX, Flex LT, and your satellite antennas are running software version v2.168 or later. If not, please contact softwaretechsupport@geophysical.com for assistance.
3. Ensure that satellite antennas are powered off before updating Flex NX or Flex LT. After Flex NX or Flex LT are updated, reboot manually before powering on and updating NX25 and NX15.
4. In rare cases your system may experience issues when updating to v2.440. If you encounter update problems, please refer to GSSI’s Flex NX/LT USB Recovery – Version 2.440 documentation (https://www.geophysical.com/flex_usb_recovery_v2-440 ) or directly contact GSSI’s Software Support Team at softwaretechsupport@geophysical.com.

• New Features

New 3D Collection Mode: Flex Grid

We’re excited to introduce Flex Grid*, a new grid-based collection mode for Flex NX and Flex LT! This long-awaited feature unlocks a powerful variation of Flex Mode designed for structured, grid-based scanning using both antennas—delivering high-quality 3D slices and a top-down roadmap that enhances traditional 2D scanning.

Key Highlights:

• Grid-Based Workflow: Flex Grid operates on a 60 cm x 60 cm (2 ft x 2 ft) grid, optimized for complete coverage with both antennas.
• On-Screen Guidance: Built-in tools help you track progress and maintain alignment throughout the collection process.
• Enhanced Visualization: Access top-down slices and a rotatable 3D volume for more informed real-time markouts.
• Advanced Capabilities: Flex Grid uses the same processing as Flex Mode, generating much cleaner imagery than 3D collection from previous generation systems.

Primary Benefits:

• Real-Time Visualization: Easily interpret slab contents in the field and immediately transfer target locations to the surface with confidence.
  • Gain and Depth sliders make it easy to optimize and interact with your data.
  • Real-time markouts are improved with an X/Y coordinate cursor, enabling fast and accurate translation from Flex NX/LT back to the slab.
  • Depth and cursor location are captured in screen grabs, so you can drop the images directly into reports.

• Post-Field Data Processing: Simplify workflows for advanced 3D analysis in post-processing software, such as Radan 7 and Geolitix, using GSSI’s well-established file formats.
  • Exported Flex Grid scans are split by antenna and clipped to grid extents for seamless software integration.
  • Data export includes a .DZT and .DZX file for each scan in the grid, plus a .BZX file for automatic grid creation.
  • Viewing a Flex Grid scan in post-processing software is as simple as opening the .BZX file using Radan 7 or importing the DZT and DZX files into Geolitix.

* Important Note: Flex Grid does not support gridded data collection with NX25 and NX15.

• Updated Features

File Export

We have streamlined file transfer and improved the organization of exported folders. When transferring one or more projects the directory structure now retains the project organization from your Flex system, including AOI subfolders and related results, 2D scan data, and Flex Grid scans.

Auto Gain: Flex NX, Flex LT, NX25, and NX15

We have fine-tuned the 2D auto gain to enhance target display, resulting in more visual contrast between targets of differing materials.

This software update is a minor update for Flex NX, Flex LT, NX25, and NX15. As such, the release notes for this update and v2.264 are both included here.

Before updating to this software version (v2.304) please verify that your Flex NX, Flex LT, and your satellite antennas are running software version 2.178 or later. If you are running an earlier version, or need assistance with the update, please contact softwaretechsupport@geophysical.com.

Ensure that satellite antennas are powered off before updating Flex NX or Flex LT. After Flex NX or Flex LT are updated, reboot manually before powering on and updating NX25 and NX15.

In rare cases your system may experience issues when updating to v2.304. a. Fast Forward option added to the list of hard button actions.

2. Software Update Version 2.264
a. New Hardware Option: This software update adds full support for the Flex Tether Module (sold separately), allowing wired paring between a Flex system (Flex NX or Flex LT) and NX25 and NX15 satellite antennas. The Tether Module enhances your jobsite scanning options by unlocking wired NX25 and NX15 connections to Flex LT. Additionally, disable wireless communication (Flex NX only) and use your Flex NX/LT system and satellite antenna combo in Wi-Fi restricted facilities.
b. New interface: We are thrilled to introduce the Nexus Elements Interface! This new operating mode is a significant upgrade for NX25 and NX15. The antennas can still connect to Flex NX via Wi-Fi and Tether Module, or Flex LT via the Tether Module, but we’ve added a powerful new feature. NX25 and NX15 can now operate independently of Flex NX or Flex LT as mark-and-go systems with a highly intuitive, simplified, and no-file-saving user interface. Can’t wait to check it out? Simply update your Flex NX or Flex LT and then update your satellite antenna(s) to roll out the game-changing Nexus Elements Interface. The NX15 Deep Target System is perfect for scanning thick concrete and identifying subgrade utilities buried below concrete installations. These systems can be purchased, operated, and updated without Flex NX and Flex LT, and they connect to a mobile device for quick and easy markand-go scanning without file saving. If file saving is needed, our Flex NX and Flex LT kits include one or both satellite antennas and provide project and file management for NX25 and NX15.

New Features

• New collection mode: 2D Remote Control (for Flex NX and wirelessly connected satellite antennas only). This is an enhanced version of Screen Mirroring that broadcasts the full Flex NX 2D Collection Screen to a Wi-Fi enabled mobile device, providing access to the complete left flyout menus (Gain, Display, and Depth), Start/Stop Scan, Screengrab, Fast Forward, and Delete. Note: Target Tagging is not available in 2D Remote Control.

For guidance on using 2D Remote Control please refer to the latest Flex NX Quick Start Guide (https://www.geophysical.com/support/flexnxsupport).

Use this feature with Flex NX, or with a paired and active NX15 or NX25 satellite antenna. Try 2D Remote Control using a tablet for a larger viewing screen, or a smart phone for a lighter and more portable display. Flex NX must remain powered on when using 2D Remote Control. However, as long as you are within 65 feet (20 meters) of Flex NX you can scan with a satellite antenna and mobile device without bringing Flex NX with you. This is especially useful when scanning on scaffolding or ladders, or in other dangerous, elevated, or confined situations. Additionally, use this feature to capture full UI screengrabs with your mobile device.

• Tap to Hide. During data collection, simply tap the Flex NX or Flex LT screen once to hide the on-screen menus and controls (Top Navigation Menu, Left Flyout Menu, and lower Control Bar). Tap the screen again to bring back the menus. This feature is also available when using 2D Remote Control on a mobile device.

Feature Improvements

• Display Gain: Auto Gain. Implemented an auto gain feature and improved performance of Gain Slider and Gain Regions.
• Flex Mode: Voxel export [Flex NX only]. When transferring projects containing Flex Mode scans, Flex NX now transfers a Flex Mode .BIN file containing a voxel model.
• Flex Mode: Improved Depth and Gain [Flex NX only]. Increased depth range of Flex Mode from 30 cm (12 in) to 68 cm (27 in), and improved depth-based gain for Flex Mode.
• Project Transfer: .FSN file. Enabled export of .FSN file to optimize the import of Flex NX data into GSSI Fusion. Simply transfer the .FSN file to a USB drive or mobile device, then upload the .FSN file to GSSI Fusion. This will create a new GSSI Fusion project with the organizational structure from Flex NX, including Project Results organized by Area of Interest. File Compatibility Notice

• This software update is not backwards compatible with Flex Mode scans collected using Nexus Software Version 1.582 (the previously released software version). As a result, Flex Mode scans from software version 1.582 cannot be opened in Playback Mode. We expect this to be temporary, and we hope to provide a fix in the near future.

New Feature: Width Scaling. Use this data collection setting to stretch or compress the distance scale of a 2D profile and customize the width of hyperbolic targets. This feature is available for all 2D collection, including single channel and split view, and for NX25 and NX15 2D data. Like other Flex NX personalized settings, the last used state is saved and persists through system shutdown/reboot.
