Technologically Advanced GPR System for Road Inspection and Analysis

The affordable RoadScan™ system provides users with an effective tool for quickly determining pavement layer thickness and performing base and sub-base evaluations with data densities not obtainable by other labor-intensive methods. RoadScan data is acquired at highway speeds, which eliminates the need for lane closures and provides a safer working environment.

GSSI’s new 2 GHz horn antenna provides superior resolution allowing measurement of layers as thin as 1 inch. RoadScan has also been fully integrated with Foundation Mechanic’s JILS truck-mounted Falling Weight Deflectometer (FWD) systems to collect and store pavement thickness at each FWD test location. Please visit www.jilsfwd.com for more information on the FWD/GPR combination vehicle.

The Road Structure Assessment Module complements GSSI’s powerful RADAN™ software to provide features including:

  • Unique calibration feature – applies calibration for each individual scan location eliminating the requirement to enter sporadic core data for calibration
  • Automatic layer picking – with powerful and flexible editing capabilities
  • Both graphical and spreadsheet view of layer data
  • ACSII output files – for simple integration with spreadsheets, pavement management databases and other programs

Typical Uses of RoadScan Include:

  • Measuring pavement thickness
  • Integration with FWD
  • Base and sub-base evaluations
  • Measuring available asphalt prior to milling operations
  • Geo-textile performance testing
  • Railroad substructure assessment

RoadScan Benefits:

  • Data acquired at highway speeds
  • Affordable, easy to use system
  • Quick determination of pavement layer thickness
  • Multi-channel data collection allows two antennas to be used simultaneously
  • Flexible antenna mounting adapts to most vehicles
  • ASCII output files for simple data transfer to other software programs
  • 2 GHz antenna provides superior data resolution for measuring lifts as thin as one inch
  • FCC Certified version available for US customers
This affordable system combines GSSI’s rugged SIR-20 data acquisition system with a
wheel-mounted distance measuring instrument, an air-launched horn antenna, mounting kit and road assessment software.
