Description: Dr. Zachary Singer of the Maryland Historical Trust pushes a GSSI UtilityScan unit at the historic Maryland Statehouse in Annapolis. The ca. 1772 structure is the oldest state capitol in continuous legislative use, the only state house ever to have served as the nation's capitol (1783-84), and the site where George Washington resigned his commission as Commander in Chief of the Continental Army. This GPR survey in search of potential archaeological deposits and utility trenches was conducted prior to planned restoration of the capital building, the ca. 1735 Old Treasury Building (also on-site), and proposed landscaping changes.
